Terms of use
Last updated: 29 October 2026
These terms apply to your use of the Popin mobile app and the popin.tr website (together, "Popin"). By using Popin you accept these terms; if you don't accept them, please don't use Popin. How your personal data is processed is explained in the Privacy policy.
1. What is Popin?
Popin is an app for discovering events in your city, forming a crew to go to an event together or to start your own small meetup, and connecting after the event with people you met. Popin is operated by Burak Atmaca (Antalya, Türkiye; contact: destek@popin.tr). Popin is not a dating app: there is no browsing strangers' profiles, no swiping and no cold messaging.
2. Account
- You must be at least 16 years old to use Popin. If you are 16–17, some features are limited (e.g. you can't join 18+ events and crews).
- You open your account with your own phone number; the number is verified with a code. One person uses one account; an account can't be opened on someone else's behalf.
- The information you give (especially your date of birth) must be accurate. Misstating your age, especially an adult presenting themselves as younger, is grounds for closing the account.
- You are responsible for the security of your phone and your account. If you think your account has been used without your permission, write to us right away.
3. Events, crews and meetups
- The events you see on Popin are mostly added by businesses, organizers and users; some come from partner sites and catalogs. Popin is not the organizer of these events; the organizer is responsible for the event taking place, its content and its safety. We try to keep the information accurate, but there may be changes and cancellations.
- Ticket and tour purchases are made on the seller's own site and under the seller's terms. Popin may earn a commission on these sales; for payment, refunds and cancellations, you contact the seller.
- Crews and meetups are set up between users. When meeting people you don't know, choose busy, public places and let someone you trust know; you can use the trusted person and live location tools in the app. Popin is not responsible for how users behave towards each other; however, we review behavior that breaks the rules when you report it.
- Joining an event or crew and not showing up, or cancelling at the last minute, is recorded in attendance records and may affect your trust level. You can appeal these records from within the app.
4. Connections and signals
After an event, you can send people you met a Connect (friendship) signal or, if you are over 18, a Spark signal. Signals are revealed only if they are mutual; an unreturned signal is never shown to anyone. Spark never works between different age groups. One-to-one chat opens only after a mutual connection. People don't rate each other; your trust level is calculated by the system.
5. Community rules
The following are prohibited on Popin:
- Harassment, threats, bullying, hate speech and discrimination;
- Nudity, sexual content, violent or illegal content; any kind of inappropriate behavior towards minors;
- Fake profiles, impersonating others, fraud, spam and unauthorized advertising;
- Calls for dangerous meetups, behavior that puts others' safety at risk;
- Fake check-ins, attempts to deceive location or device verification;
- Sharing other people's personal data without permission;
- Using Popin with bots, automated tools or data scraping, or trying to disrupt our systems or get around security measures.
If you come across content or a person that breaks the rules, you can report or block them from the app.
6. Moderation, sanctions and appeals
Messages and photos may be checked by automated systems and by our team. If the rules are broken, we may give a warning, remove content, temporarily restrict some features, suspend the account or close it permanently. In serious cases (e.g. child safety) we notify the competent authorities. You can appeal a decision from the app within 14 days; your appeal is reviewed by a person who didn't make the original decision.
7. Content you share
The photos, text and other content you share belong to you. You give us a worldwide, free license, valid for as long as we provide the service, to show this content on Popin, store it and process it for the service (e.g. resizing, moderation). You must have the necessary rights to the content you share. When you delete your content or close your account, this license ends, except for the retention periods in the Privacy policy.
8. Businesses
Adding events is always free for businesses. People who open a business account and use business mode also accept the Business terms. Rewards, loyalty programs and promotions offered by businesses are the responsibility of that business.
9. Fees
Popin is free for users. If paid features (e.g. featured placement for businesses) are added in the future, their price and terms will be shown clearly before purchase.
10. Intellectual property
The Popin name, logo, design and software belong to us or are licensed to us. You may use Popin only within these terms and for personal, non-commercial purposes; you may not copy, modify or reverse engineer it.
11. Limitation of liability
We provide Popin as is; we can't guarantee that it will work without interruption or errors. To the extent permitted by law, we are not liable for damages arising from the behavior of, or what is offered by, users and third parties (event organizers, ticket sellers, businesses). Liability arising from intent and gross negligence, and your rights under the law as a consumer, remain unaffected.
12. Closing your account
You can close your account at any time with Settings › Delete account. If you breach these terms seriously or repeatedly, we may close your account. If we decide to discontinue Popin, we will announce it in advance and give you time to download your data.
13. Changes
We may change these terms. For an important change, we will inform you in the app and ask you to accept the new terms again; if you don't accept them, you can delete your account.
14. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Türkiye. For your applications as a consumer, the Consumer Arbitration Committees and Consumer Courts of your place of residence have jurisdiction.
15. Contact
For your questions, you can use Settings › Support in the app or write to destek@popin.tr.
